As of this second, Opium7:7 is a mere seven weeks away, and to celebrate the 7-ness of it all, we're thrilled to announce the 14 finalists for the Shya Scanlon 7-Line Story Contest (judged by Brian Evenson). Seven of these stories will make the cut for Opium7, while others will be put on the site in the coming weeks (expect them on Fridays). Too, there were plenty of fantastic stories outside of the finalists, so expect to see a handful of those entries in the coming weeks, as well. Excitement, abound! And endless congratulations to the finalists, and endless thanks to everyone courageous enough to write out a 7-liner (I wrote two recently in the spirit of the contest, and it's plain hard).
Also, we'll be debuting the Opium7:7 cover in a week, featuring one of our favorite artists. We have a strong feeling you will love it.
Alright, now to get on with it: For absolutely no reason we can think of, we've put the stories in alphabetical order by story title.
