Her sister was the kind of person who liked to step up, so he floated while she crossed things off a list. He was never sure if he was feeling what he supposed to be feeling but pretty sure he wasn’t.
In the empty house, he turned the TV way up, let the babble fill the room like packing nuts.
He took one picture of her, a look in her eye like What are you doing, moron, and got in the car.
He headed south.
